Viking Bank of Alexandria, MN, celebrated their new location with an open house for the public on February 15, and a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on February 16. Shingobee started construction of the two-story, 20,000 square foot building in June of 2016; it was completed in December.

Shingobee CFO Nancy Samson has been elected to the Board of Directors of Associated Builders and Contractors Minnesota / North Dakota Chapter. New Board members were sworn in at the association’s annual Excellence in Construction Awards banquet, on January 26, 2017. Nancy has been Controller and Chief Financial Officer at Shingobee since 2005.

Shingobee Project Manager Jessica Besonen has been elected to the Executive Committee of Design-Build Institute of America, Upper Midwest Region (DBIA-UMR), as its President. She presided over their initial breakfast meeting of the year, on January 18, which featured a presentation by the City of St. Paul and the St. Paul Port Authority.

Two bank and credit union construction projects that were completed in 2016 held Grand Openings this past week. Fulda Area Credit Union celebrated the opening of its new branch in Windom, MN, with a holiday open house on December 14. This 4,700 square foot facility replaced an existing building in Windom.

Shingobee has begun construction of two new hotels, one in the Twin Cities metro, and one in Mankato. A new Courtyard Marriott hotel is under way in St. Louis Park, MN, on a site adjacent to the existing Minneapolis Marriott West on Wayzata Blvd.

Shingobee has been awarded construction of an ALDI grocery store which will anchor a new retail development in Roseville, MN. This is the fourth ALDI store to be built by Shingobee; others have been completed in Baxter, Fergus Falls, and New Ulm, MN.

The Williston (ND) Fire Department held a grand opening of its second fire station, built by Shingobee, on Monday, November 28. A dedication was also held for a training tower built at the site, naming it for a local veteran who died in the Korean War, Corporal Eugene Falcon.

The new ALDI grocery store in New Ulm, MN, received a warm reception at its opening on Thursday, October 20. Excited shoppers queued up for special prizes for the first 100 entering the store. This is the third ALDI store completed by Shingobee in Minnesota.
