Construction was started in May on a new Tribal Justice Center for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, in Cass Lake, MN. This $6.3 million, 30,000 square foot one-story building will house their tribal courts and police facility.

Construction progress over the summer has included concrete and masonry work, followed by structural steel erection. Steel framing is now complete; floors are being poured, and roof decking and wall sheathing have begun. The building will be completed by Shingobee in April 2016.

The project, consisting of a masonry and steel skeleton, will have an exterior of decorative masonry and metal cladding, with high quality interior finishes, and is sure to be a source of pride for the Band for many years to come.

Subcontractors on the project are widely based – from Bemidji, Grand Rapids, Duluth, Loretto, South Haven, Foley, Detroit Lakes, Clearbrook, Pierz, North Branch, Brainerd, Golden Valley, Minneapolis, Lutsen, Keewatin, International Falls, and Lake George.
