The Xcel Energy Service Center in Montrose, MN, which Shingobee provided as a build-to-suit project for Xcel Energy, Inc. in 2011, has achieved Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

 

The project’s final LEED rating reflected 40 documented and approved points, corresponding to the Certified certification level under the LEED for New Construction rating system.

 

“LEED certification identifies Xcel Energy, Inc. Montrose Service Center as a pioneering example of sustainable design and demonstrates your leadership in transforming the building industry,” stated S. Richard Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chairman, U.S. Green Building Council, in the certification award letter.

 

The Xcel Energy Service Center received certification points for:

  • 28 percent energy savings over conventional buildings
  • Water retention pond used for landscape irrigation system
  • 31 percent water reduction over conventional buildings
  • Enhanced commissioning
  • 100 percent recycled construction waste use to gravel storage yard
